How to Get Your Business Mojo Back

As a small business owner or solo professional, you’ve got a multitude of processes and outward-facing elements to manage, such as your LinkedIn profile and website. But it’s easy to become complacent and overlook these important aspects as your business evolves. That’s why I want to share three simple strategies I use to maintain a fresh perspective on my work:

Strategies to Maintain Your Business Mojo

  1. Question Past Decisions: Take a moment to reflect on decisions made three or five years ago. Technology advances constantly, and your business focus may have shifted. There might be better, simpler, and more cost-effective solutions available now that you’re not aware of.
  2. Examine the Details: It’s astonishing how we can miss the smallest errors, even if they’ve been right in front of us for years. To prevent such oversights, periodically examine the elements of your business you may tend to overlook. Review presentations, scrutinize your website’s every page, and test to ensure all buttons and links are functioning as expected.  Ideally have someone that is perhaps new on your team to examine these components as they will be reviewing with fresh eyes. This is a good example of why having a virtual assistance is beneficial. Please refer to my blog: Maximize Your Potential: Embracing Virtual Assistants for Business Success where I highlight the seven benefits of hiring a virtual assistant for a small business owner.
  3. Own Your Business: While you may not be an expert in every technical detail, it’s essential to understand the work you outsource. Don’t simply rely on others to set things up for you; take responsibility for verifying that they’re functioning correctly. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worked with clients who had no idea why certain elements of their business were set up the way they were because they left it up to someone else to handle. I always recommend documenting the processes, so you can review them whenever necessary. If someone new steps in to take over that task, they will have something to reference to understand the reasoning behind what was done before them.

Keep a Steady Eye

Running your own business can create a comfortable rhythm, but it’s important to keep a steady eye on all aspects of your operations. By periodically reassessing and staying informed, you can ensure that your business remains efficient and effective or as I like to say keep your business mojo intact. 😊
